In the past the Indonesian Island Sumatra was well-known for its gold. Various kinds of techniques in which gold is applied in fabrics are presented, related to different areas on the island.
To preserve the textiles, the temperature in the room had to be quite low. To be able to associate with the tropical origin of the fabrics, we decided to raise the wind chill by colouring the room with red lights. Visitors were able to experiment with folding their own hats from cloth, like the Minangkabau on Sumatra do.
