buckety tick

kinetic installation

This installation refers to the recreational relation between men and sea. Everyone will remember going to the beach bringing your bucket and spade. Here they make knocking melodies when the wind blows. The installation was part of the national ‘Week of the Sea’.

description: 25 zinc buckets hang from a wooden frame. Each bucket contains (rain) water. A hole in the wall determines the height of the water level and thus the pitch, which is different for each bucket. The scoops are suspended like wind vanes. The wind blows the blades of the scoops back and forth, causing the handles to hammer the pails to sound. (12 x 1 x 2.5 m3)
