Wim Schermer likes to seduce people to wonderment. He invites them to look beyond the boundaries of everyday reality. He creates a stirring balance between usual and unusual, with which he catches the attention of his audience. Once the threshold is crossed, visitors experience something that is not consonant with their expectancies, though they can not name it immediately.
Schermers work focuses on context. Research on the nature of the landscape, the history of the environment and the way people are using the place, forms the inspiration for a work of art. And in return, the work adds new meaning to the location.
